流域水污染机理与控制途径及生态工程技术，主要研究涉及氮磷营养物质在流域和水生态系统中的迁移转化规律、湿地生态工程技术原理与应用实践。

主持和参与多项国家级课题，目前在研的主要课题包括：国家水体污染控制与治理科技重大专项课题“海河流域水污染综合治理技术集成与总体方案”、国家科技支撑计划课题“典型区域村镇分散型污水处理技术集成研究与综合示范”、973课题“湿地系统水环境功能退化及综合修复机理”之专题“黄淮海典型湿地演化过程与退化表征”。发表论文60余篇，参与著述1部，申报发明专利9项。
