Along with rapid increase in wastewater treatment capacity in China, the sludge production is considerably increased.Informed that, as of the end of March 2014, a total of urban sewage treatment plants built3622, sewage treatment capacity of about 153 million cubic meters / day, compared withthe end of 2013 added approximately 4.3 million cubic meters / day. Among them, thecities officially except Shigatse, Hainan Province, three Shashi, the entire town was put into operation a sewage treatment plant, a total of 2051, the formation of the sewage treatment capacity of 126 million cubic meters / day, compared with the end of 2013 to about 3.4 million new cubic meters / day; 1381 the county built a sewage treatment plant,the county accounted for 85.0% of the total, cumulative build sewage treatment plants1571, the formation of the sewage treatment capacity 27.58 million cubic meters / day,compared with the end of 2013 added approximately 900,000 cubic m / day., and the production of wet sludge with moisture content of 80% reached 3.50 millions tons in 2013. The investigation result shows that 80% of the sludge produced from WWTPs in China is not properly treated and disposed, which causes serious pollution and attracts considerable attention. In the 12th five-year plan, the sludge treatment and disposal will become one of the key fields.
